Scholarships in China for International Students

In order to promote the mutual understanding and cooperation in politics, economic and culture between China and the world, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor and support international students. As an ancient civilization with a history of more than 5,000 years, China has always been putting a great value to its education. If you are studying Chinese or planning to learn mandarin to be enrolled by a university in China, then you can try to apply and enjoy these scholarships.

 

There are three types of scholarships in China:

Chinese Government Scholarship

Local Government Scholarship

Confucius Institute Scholarship

 

You can apply for Chinese Government Scholarship from January to early April of each year, and Chinese Embassy in your home country will be in charge of the application procedure. There are more info at The China Scholarship Council website. There are 279 Chinese universities that can accept Chinese Government Scholarship students. For local government scholarship, each of the local government scholarship has its own details. You can apply for  government scholarship from May to September, And Confucius Institute Scholarship application is open all year round.

 

Chinese Government Scholarship and Confucius Institute Scholarship both cover tuition, accommodation, living expenses and insurance for the entire duration of study.  The best way to get a full scholarship is focusing on one or two universities that you have a bigger chance to be enrolled by. 

 

To be eligible for these scholarships, applicants should be a citizen of a country other than the P. R. China, be in good health. There are usually some limits for the age, HSK degree and Education background of the applicants as well, and it varies between different scholarships and universities.
